The thing I hate most about advertising is that it attracts all the bright, creative and ambitious young people, leaving us mainly with the slow and self-obsessed to become our artists. Modern art is a disaster area. Never in the field of human history has so much been used by so many to say so little. BANKSY

This is Banksys latest street work on the Essex Road, London N1. I filmed the spot for 1 hour on 6th March 2008. It was interesting to note the diverse cross section of the local community that were interested in his work. Unfortunately it is now covered with perspex to stop it being vandalised. See for yourself. Now covered up unfortunately.video: 1 Hour in the life of a Banksy - romanywg on youtube [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caEgsHxs-5Y]
Aren't street art auctions a bit lame? I don't agree with auction houses selling street art - its undemocratic, it glorifies greed and I never see any of the money. What's with all the gallery shows? None of the print and painting exhibitions in proper art galleries are anything to do with me, it's all stuff they bought previously. I only ever mount shows in warehouses or war zones or places full of live animals (I'm aware the pictures don't stand up on their own).video: "FAQ" teaser on YouTube [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6_QYchjqR8]
"If the mission of art has been to propose new ways of conceiving and feeling to everybody - and not to just a narrow circle of people - not just on special occasions but in everyday life, then it becomes necessary to think about the fact that maybe the art has completed his historic task. Better: design has taken charge of that task, and it is nowadays at the forefront in the job of displacement, erosion, activation, modulation on the edge between possible/impossible, real/surreal, daily/extraordinary."img from: A Banksy beside a bar in Shoreditch - by What What on Flickr.com video from: One Show - Paul Rand Tribute Film (2007) - via information aesthetics [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3XPeGL907E]
"Perhaps the most incredible aspect of the Banksy phenomenon is neither his meteoric rise, nor the substantial sums of money that his art now commands, but that as a self-confessed guerilla artist, he has been so wholeheartedly embraced by the very establishment he satirises. We are sure that this irony is not lost on today's buyers."video from: Banksy - The Joy of Not Being Sold Anything (via youtube) [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6c87zplceQ]
