Come nacque tale modello imprenditoriale?

(EN) There was a time in the mid-60s of the twentieth century, when an Italian company had the chance to lead the global information revolution, ten years earlier the Silicon Valley boys: Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. A technological revolution that had its roots in a cultural and social revolution, in an industrial design thought beyond socialism and capitalism, which promoter, Adriano Olivetti, begun to experience since the 30s in Ivrea, near Turin. Olivetti became the biggest Italian company, with the most successful international business, able to cover one third of the world market in its sector. A multinational atypical with strong local roots, characterized by futuristic social policy, lifelong learning and international cultural activities, elements that were the secret of his commercial success and not the result of his philanthropic or patronage profits. What was this business model like? How was his management style, designed upon knowledge socialization and social responsibility, which promoted an alternative society model and led to the threshold of the largest industrial occasion that Italy has ever had?

txt: About Electrovenice

The Electrovenice Festival was created in 2010, as a brand new idea and concept of the usual summer music festival, where the passion for dance music combines with a unique location, the stunning green area of parco San Giuliano, a perfect, relaxing location to fully enjoy the festival. The first edition was a huge success and now, a year after, the festival is a not to be missed event with a wide fan base.Eclecticism will surely be this 2011 edition’s keyword; Electrovenice is the one and only festival in Italy to offer in a single day the number one talents of the international dance and electro scene, immersed in a perfect set, parco San Giulano, so they can express themselves through a unique performance. The festival becomes a sort of collective ritual, where artists and the crowd really get in touch: the dj is the master of a ceremony where all hearts beat in sync, creating a unique and exceptional sound. By June 18th 2011 this living, pumping heart will beat the whole day long in San Giuliano Park in Venice. With just one edition the Electro Venice Festival has already the status of a cult event and will come back this year with an even more surprising and spectacular cast.

txt: Venezia: attrazione fatale - Elia Barbiani - myvenice.org

Venice is not just a stage set. It is also a city with a resident population, which has productive activities, transportation and services. But how does the “Venice system” work? How do the tides in the lagoon behave? How are the canals formed? And the embankments? What’s under the buildings? Venice Backstage, a project conceived by Insula spa, the operative arm of the Venice Municipality for urban maintenance, is about what happens behind the curtains, to make the fragile beauty of this fantastic city easier to appreciate.

txt: the German Pavilion of the 54th Venice Biennial in 2011

Dr. Susanne Gaensheimer, Commissioner of the German Pavilion of the 54th Venice Biennial in 2011 and Director of MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst Frankfurt/Main, has announced that the work of Christoph Schlingensief will be presented in Venice despite his untimely death. [...] In early May 2010, Christoph Schlingensief himself commented on his invitation to the Venice Biennial in the following words: “I have worked in many different fields, as a director in film, theater and opera, producer, solo entertainer, human being, also as a sick human being and Christian, and equally so as a politician and performer, and I have always taken an interest in those artists who felt almost compelled to practice their art, and in so doing did not necessarily separate their compulsion from that of having or wanting to live. A kind of schizophrenia has always been typical of my work and my life. If I limited myself to one thing only I would simply get bored, my mind would be starved of inspiration. Between music and image, people and language, the healthy and the infirm, the funny and the sad I always need to be given the chance to state the opposite too. To my mind, everything in the world is ambiguous. The task of using the German Pavilion, which very much looks like a representative building, not for the purpose of representation but for art, simply fits the bill – a heavy burden, yet art makes light what would otherwise be heavy. And yet perhaps it is precisely what makes it so positive. I, for my part, love those cracks and opposites, and over the coming months I intend to seek out the most productive opposites for Venice, the German Pavilion, and Burkina Faso.”

Cesare De Michelis: Quando l’ho fondata, tutto sembrava possibile. Un’atmosfera sparita. Ce l’ho fatta perché sono testardo - corrieredelveneto.corriere.it

Rispetto a oggi, allora tutto sembrava possibile.

txt: High water in Venice: frequently asked questions (FAQ) - City of Venice

What happens in Venice when there's a high tide? Venice and Venetians have always been used to coping with "acqua alta". These are the City Administration's measures in case of high tide: if there's a sea level forecast of +110 cm on the mareographic zero, the population is alerted by acoustic signals and with text messages (for those registered at the free high tide information service of the City Tide Centre - Centro Maree Comunale). At the same time, elevated platforms are set along the main streets to allow passage. Public waterbuses keep on working, although some lines may be subject to changes. In any case access to most of the town is guaranteed. Only when exceptional high waters occur (higher than 120 cm on the mareographic zero) the famous "acqua alta boots" are really needed, but even on these occasions the inconvenience last just as long as it takes for the water to go down again, which usually happens in a few hours.

Contrary to our expectations perhaps, eighteenth-century Venetian view painting was both rich and varied. It was also a form of painting almost entirely shaped by the tastes and aspirations of foreign visitors to the city. The eighteenth-century Venice of Canaletto and his rivals was, to almost every visitor, a place of wonder.

Sun, 31 Oct 2010 18:32:00 -0700 Venice, Italy, World http://oddtag.posterous.com/venice-italy-world http://oddtag.posterous.com/venice-italy-world

Venice is a starting point, a call to go, a special destination in a world of ends. It can be so big, and so small. So open, but so closed (you know, thorns and roses..). I like the lagoon, when the vaporetto approaches to the islands, in the autumn mist. People come here from everywhere, speak all the languages, wear in completely different ways. And they go away. It's a place of the world, and of the soul.

Thirteen are the typical Venetian bridges that the marathon runners meet in the last miles of the route, before reaching the finish line of Riva Sette Martiri. These 13 bridges, normally, would represent a really insuperable obstacle for the disabled athletes competing in wheelchairs. However, in occasion of the marathon, bridges are equipped with wooden ramps that help not only the wheelchairs, but also the runners, the residents and the tourists to experience Venice in easier manner. The introduction of the wooden ramps goes back to the very first edition of the Venicemarathon, however, it's in 2005 that the marathon organising committee reaches an agreement with the Architectural Barriers Elimination Office of the City of Venice in order to exted the period of availability of the ramps from a few days to several weeks. Thanks to this project, for almost two months every year, before and after the marathon, Venice acquires an accessibility otherwise impossible.

txt: 25th Venicemarathon - Oscar Pistorius: The next three days will be full of fun and sport

The last one to give his welcome was Oscar Pistorius: “This is the third year that I came at the Venicemarathon and to be here on the occasion of its 25th anniversary is a great pleasure for me. I am not a marathoner but a sports man and here you can find always many young people. I am the testimonial of “Venice Accessible – the barriers are overcome just by running” and I will run the Family Run on Saturday morning, there will be many wheelchair athletes….therefore these three days will be a time to do sports and have fun.
